"Structured Matrix"™ technology

Unique and proprietary to General Ecology, "Structured Matrix" technology is chemical-free, taking out contaminants without putting additives in the water. For over 28 years, "Structured Matrix" technology has offered a wide variety of sophisticated customers clean, healthy water for use in the airline, boat, residential, RV and outdoor recreation markets. General Ecology is truly the leader in chemical-free water purification and micro-filtration.

There are three mechanisms which work simultaneously and synergistically to give the system outstanding effectiveness over a broad range of contaminants.

These mechanisms are (1) ultrafine submicron microfiltration, (2) molecular capture and broad spectrum adsorption and (3) electrochemical separations, incorporated into a "Structured Matrix" to provide uniform flow and reliability and to prevent channeling.

The first mechanism physically strains bacteria, Giardia, Cryptosporidia and other larger organisms, and particulate matter from the influent water, much like a window screen keeps flies from entering a house.

The second mechanism is an integration of pharmaceutical grade, high quality adsorption and molecular sieving materials into the microstructure for high efficiency in removing trichloroethylene, PCB's, pesticides, herbicides and many other chemical contaminants.

The third mechanism consists of negative and positive electro-attractive forces, which are permanently induced into the matrix to attract even smaller particles that cannot be removed by microfiltration alone.

Because of its unique microstructure matrix in combination with organic removal mechanisms,General Ecology cartridges do not have the pathogenic bacteria buildup problems common to GAC, carbon block, extruded carbon and other coarser charcoal filters.

Spark-L-Pure Microfiltration Systems, designed for large capacity usage, offer the same chemical and aesthetic removal benefits as the Seagull IV water purifiers but are not rated to remove bacteria and viruses.

First Need Portable Purifiers match the chemical free purification ability of General Ecology's larger Seagull IV systems in compact, portable models for pure water on the go! Whether for hiking, camping, emergency preparedness or international travel, there is a First Need portable water purifier designed to fit your needs.

Microlite Micro Water Filter is our most compact system designed for day hikes and cyclists who value small size and lightweight micro water filtration. Microlite filters offer the same chemical and aesthetic removal benefits as the First Need water purifiers but are not rated to remove bacteria and viruses.

Nature Pure Purifiers offer chemical free purification equal to the Seagull IV systems in an economical thermo-engineered plastic housing with approximately 1/2 the capacity and flow rate of the Seagull IV water purifier. Ideal for RVs, vacation cottages, canal boats, motorhomes and RVs, Nature Pure water purifier offers customers a chance to travel and vacation in style with pure water instantly available from the tap.
